Biocompute - First Working group meeting

The group has a very broad scope and the discussion was focussed on how the group could best have an impact within the broader goals of LINXS. Given the highly interdisciplinary nature of structural biology it is not meaningful to be limited to X-ray and neutron methods, even if that is the main emphasis. In order to connect experts in applied mathematics and computer science with relevant problems in structural biology, it is necessary to put forward specific challenges that are currently a gap in the field. As a first step towards identifying some suitable challenges Biocompute will start by conducting a gap analysis for software in structural biology. They will make use of the wide variety of expertise in the group and the members’ extensive networks, as well as surveys and questionnaires.
